To create a new order status, or edit an existing one, in your store, do the following:


Click on the menu Store Settings > Statuses > Order Statuses. You will now see a new screen called "Order Statuses".

Click on the "plus icon" in the top right hand corner of your screen.

Add a name for your order status, a colour, and save it.

To edit one, simply click on the "pencil icon" next to it.

 

Assign the new order statuses

Afterward, it is important to assign the new order statuses to the relevant status, otherwise automatic actions won't process on their own, such as allowing download/digital files to be accessed or sending shipping information using ShipStation, and more. Note that if you edited an order status and it was already assigned, it remains assigned and acquires its new name without following the steps below. The next steps are only if you'd like to change to a new order status.

  1. In your admin area, go to Store Settings > General Settings > Options > Checkout.
  2. In that section, you'll find the following 5 settings along with your new and edited statuses:
    1. Default order status
    2. Pending order status
    3. Processing order status
    4. Complete order status
    5. Fraud order status
  3. Hover over each one and read its help text to understand when it is used.
  4. Set the Default and Fraud order statuses to a status that you'd like. Then, for the Pending, Processing, and Complete order statuses, you can tick multiple boxes and set multiple statuses for each one.
  5. Save.
