(V5) How can I insert a slideshow into my content pages or blog posts? Print

You can insert a slideshow directly into a blog post, product page, or content page by using the Shortcodes feature built-into Ozcart. The slideshow does not have to be the one that you are using on the home page, you can assign a different slideshow group of banners just for a particular block or page if you prefer.

1) Create the banners to appear in the slideshow

You can create the banners to appear in the slideshow by going to Design > Banners & Galleries > Image & Banner Groups in the Store Admin menu.

You will now see a new screen with a plus sign icon on the right hand side. Click on this icon.

You will now see a screen with the title "Add Images & Banners". Add a name for your reference. Next, click on the "plus sign icon" to add the banner image.

Complete the following fields to add your banner:

  • Title: A name for your banner.
  • Link: The URL link you want your customers to be redirected to when they click on the banner image. See the section 'How do I link my home banners?' in this article for more information.
  • Image / Banner: Add your banner image. Click on the "plus sign icon". You will see a "pencil icon". Click the "pencil icon" and you will now be able to upload an image from your local computer. The banner image you upload for your homepage banner depends on the width of your store. Most banners are between 900px and 2000px in width. Upload the image size that best suits your needs. If you want a carousel with multiple images, add multiple banner images by clicking on the "plus sign icon" each time to add a new banner image.
  • Sort Order: Decide in what order you would like your banners; 0 being first.

Tip: If adding more than one banner, make sure your banner images are all the same size and height, so they look neat when rotating in the carousel.

You then need to record the banner "id" code for your slideshow, as this will be needed to display it correctly. To do this open the slideshow editing screen for one of the pages in the slideshow. Then, look in the URL of the page in your administration panel to retrieve the banner_id for the set.

2) Insert them into your page.

To insert the banner block, you need to put your cursor where you would like the slideshow to appear. Then, you can use this shortcode:

[module_slideshow id="10" img_w="1400" img_h="300" /]

The width and height can be of your choosing, but you should make sure that your images are all the same height or they will not display as expected.
