If you are using the Facebook social sharing tool, or wish to show your website in a tab on Facebook, you will need a Facebook "App ID". This is a special code that makes your site known to Facebook's platform and is specific to your site and account.

Here is how to set it up.

- Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps/ and log in with your Facebook account. Note: our screenshots below no longer reflect the new design but can be used for guidance.
- Choose 'Add a New App' (or My Apps > Create App) from the dropdown button in the top right-hand corner.

Select the app type "None" and click Next.

Enter your 'Display Name,' which is what your "app," or tab, will be displayed as on your Facebook Page (this will normally be your store name), and your contact email address (this will be your Facebook developer email login, not a usual store login)

Then, click Create App.

On the next screen, do not choose anything. Instead, click Settings > Basic from the left hand menu.

Enter a Privacy Policy URL.

Next, you will give Facebook the URL of your Facebook store. Click + Add Platform.

In the popup that appears, choose Website or Web. This will add a box to the page letting you enter the URL.

Enter your Store URL with a https:// at the start. So, if your store is
https://www.example.com, then the Facebook URL would be
https://www.example.com

Now, all you need to do is make your App live, and you'll be able to use it. Go to App Review and click to make your app live. Or, simply click on the Development toggle found at the top.

You will be asked to choose a Category for your store (e.g., Business). Do this from the dropdown before your app goes live.

Log in with Facebook button

After finalising the steps above, in your Facebook developers page, click the + button next to Products, on the left.

Then, click the Set Up button for Facebook Login. Follow the steps, which are similar to the above steps where you select to use Website or Web, and then enter your URL.
Keep clicking Continue and Next until you reach the last step.

Your login button should work now.
