Hosted Solutions versus Hosting Accounts Print

  • 0

There are two different types of website solutions that are available from any website provider:

  • Hosted solutions: Where the provider manages all of the backend server side and code and you rent your website from them on a monthly basis
  • Owned solutions (hosting accounts): Where the provider manages the environment (and sometimes provides the initial site) but you own the final code and control the source.  The provider may own the copyrights on the design.

An example of a hosted solution is Ozcart, our online shopping cart solution for any ecommerce.

An example of an owned solution is one of our web hosting packages (e.g. Oxygen) where cPanel access is provided and only server side support is provided.
